User Testing
A prototype was tested with a small, diverse group to see how well changes were noticed. It was found that some people, especially those who are cisgender and heterosexual, had trouble understanding the new terms. The personas used in the design process were diverse but lacked variation in age and abilities. After considering the findings, the idea of creating a separate app focused on diversity, inclusion, and education in interpersonal relationships was proposed. This app would include educational workshops and partnerships with therapists.
Conclusion
The UX study for Lovesick was a comprehensive exploration of the dating app experiences of the LGBTQ+ community. By conducting interviews, surveys, and a competitive analysis, the team behind Lovesick gained valuable insights into the pain points and preferences of its target users. These insights were then used to develop personas and user journeys, which helped the team to better understand the needs and wants of its users. The primary research conducted for Lovesick provided a strong foundation for the design and development of the app, ensuring that it is a safe, inclusive, and user-friendly space for queer individuals to find meaningful connections.
